Prof Chinwe Agwu, Esq
Africa Deals Advisory Leader

Prof. Chinwe Ohanele Agwu is Africa Deals Advisory Leader at Nina Jojer Associates (NJA), where she advises on cross-border transactions, market entry strategies, and commercial structuring for clients navigating the Americas–Africa corridor. A serial entrepreneur, attorney, and educator with over 15 years of experience, she brings a rare combination of legal rigour, entrepreneurial instinct, and deep cultural fluency to the structuring and execution of deals across African markets.

Her work has been particularly consequential at the intersection of Africa and the American economy, advising diaspora entrepreneurs and African businesses on US market structuring, compliance, and growth strategy. She was instrumental in multiple ventures supporting the Nigerian film and television industry's expansion, including engagements tied to Netflix's entry into the Nollywood market.

A recognised thought leader on intellectual property, the creative economy, and digital markets, Chinwe has written and spoken extensively on how IP frameworks shape economic outcomes for African entrepreneurs and emerging market creators. Her published commentary — including work on digital colonialism, content ownership, and the geopolitics of global streaming — reflects a consistent commitment to ensuring Africa captures the value it generates.

Beyond her practice, Chinwe serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California's Gould School of Law, where she teaches in the Media, Entertainment and Technology Law programme. She also serves on the board of the Entrepreneurship Funders Network, leading legal risk assessment programming that supports foundations and family offices funding diverse entrepreneurship ecosystems. Earlier in her career, she held roles at Michelson Philanthropies, where she led programming linking intellectual property to social justice, educational equity, and economic growth.

Licensed to practise in California, New York, and New Jersey, and the first attorney in her immigrant family, Chinwe brings to NJA a transatlantic perspective forged across law, academia, entrepreneurship, and advocacy — and an enduring belief in Africa's capacity to define its own economic future.
